Juventus has activated its option to buy Weston McKennie. The 22-year-old American midfielder arrived in Italy on loan at the start of the current season, after standing out for Schalke 04, from Germany, with the clause that would allow the definitive acquisition. Juve reported McKennie’s hiring in an official statement on Wednesday. The midfielder signs until June 2025 for 18.5 million euros.
“Juventus has exercised its right to opt for the definitive acquisition of the rights of the player Weston McKennie with Schalke 04, for the amount of € 18.5 million to be paid in up to three years. The amount can increase by up to an additional € 6.5 million if some goals are reached over the duration of the contract. Juventus and the player signed a contract until June 2025. “
McKennie has five goals and 31 games with the Juve shirt so far. At Schalke 04, he was for three seasons, with the same number of goals in 90 games. He started in Juve’s 3-0 win over Spezia on Tuesday.
